What to Expect
Your journey to healing starts with understanding the process
Your First Session
Starting therapy can feel daunting — especially if you don't know what to expect
Your first session is not about being judged or pressured. Instead, it's a calm, conversational space focused on understanding you.
During the first session, we usually:
-
1
Talk about what brings you to therapy
We'll discuss your current challenges and concerns
-
2
Discuss your goals and hopes
What do you want to achieve through therapy?
-
3
Explore relevant background
We'll discuss your personal history and experiences
You can expect:
- A gentle, relaxed atmosphere
- Space to ask any questions
- No pressure or judgment
- To feel heard and understood
Most clients leave feeling relieved, heard, and reassured that they don't have to face things alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does therapy typically last?
Therapy duration varies depending on your goals and needs. Some people find significant relief in 8-12 sessions, while others prefer longer-term support. We'll regularly review progress together.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum, then move to bi-weekly as they progress. We'll find a schedule that works for you.
What if I don't know what to talk about?
That's completely normal! I'll help guide the conversation. Sometimes we start with how your week has been, or we might focus on specific goals we've set together.
Is therapy confidential?
Absolutely. Everything discussed in therapy is confidential, with very few legal exceptions (risk of harm to self or others). I'll explain confidentiality in detail during our first session.
What's the difference between online and in-person sessions?
Both formats are equally effective. Online sessions offer convenience and comfort, while in-person sessions provide a dedicated therapeutic space. Many clients use a mix of both.
